Daniel Osei founded a freight-routing company in 2018 and grew it to sixty people without institutional capital. The offer that arrived in 2024 valued the business at eight figures and required a board seat with veto rights over hiring.

We spend most of this conversation on the nine days between the offer and the answer, including the Sunday he told his wife he was going to say no, and the Tuesday he almost changed his mind.

Daniel is careful not to make this a parable. Two of his co-founders left over the decision. He is still not certain he was right, and he explains why he thinks that uncertainty is the correct place to land.
